Did you know that the City of Miami recycles Christmas trees? Now that the holidays are drawing to a close, all you have to do is take down your decorations and leave the tree on the curb from Wednesday, January 7 through Wednesday, January 14 and your not-so evergreen will be hauled away to be used for organic mulch.
The Department of Solid Waste is also collecting trees at the South Dade Landfill at 24000 SW 97 Avenue from 7am-5:30pm daily. To be certain your tree is ready for recycling, double check that the tinsel, lights and other decorations are all removed before you drop it off! If you are simply too filled with the Christmas Spirit to part with your tree, know that after the 14th of January, the city will not take your tree away from the curbside and you will have to do the heavy lifting on your own.
Centers available for tree drop off after January 14th are opened 7am-5:30pm:
North Dade 2*, 21500 NW 47 Avenue
Norwood, 19901 NW 7 Avenue
